Spend the day discovering one of the oldest metalworking techniques in the world while creating a truly one of a kind sterling silver ring.

This intimate workshop is limited to just four students, allowing for personalized instruction and plenty of one-on-one guidance throughout the day. Over the course of 5–6 hours, you’ll learn two jewelry-making techniques: professional wax carving and traditional sand casting.

Morning: We’ll begin by teaching you how to carve a ring from professional jeweler’s wax. You’ll learn how to shape, size, refine, and add details to create a one-of-a-kind design with traditional tools.

Lunch Break: After a lunch break (feel free to bring your own lunch or order Jimmy John’s with us), we’ll move into the exciting second half of the experience: sand casting.

Afternoon: Sand casting is one of humanity’s oldest metalworking techniques, dating back thousands of years. For centuries, artisans have used specially prepared sand to create molds capable of capturing incredible detail before pouring molten metal inside to create finished objects. While the process has evolved over time, the core technique remains remarkably similar to what ancient metalsmiths practiced.

In this class, you’ll learn every step of the process. Rather than simply watching a demonstration, you’ll create your own mold, prepare your wax model, melt and pour sterling silver with instructor guidance, reveal your casting, and finish your piece through filing, sanding, and polishing. You’ll even have the option to cast a stone directly into your ring using a specially selected cast-in-place gemstone if you’d like.

This is a truly hands-on experience where you’ll participate in every stage of the journey, from carving a block of wax to leaving with a beautifully finished sterling silver ring that you made yourself.

Your tuition of $350 includes:

• A full day (5–6 hours) of expert instruction
• Professional jeweler’s wax
• Casting your ring in sterling silver- up to 20g (anything larger will require extra metal which will be charged at market rate-note: most rings are under 20g)
• All tools, equipment, and safety materials
• Polishing and finishing supplies
• A completed sterling silver ring to take home the same day

-Please wear CLOSED-TOED SHOES and long pants. This is a must for studio safety. 

-Please wear long hair tied up; we have hair ties if you forget 

-If you wear glasses, bring them.

Please arrive a few minutes early to find your seat, as class starts on time. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late we will not be able to have you join the class.
